Plans B Are A-OK
21 February 2016 | Phi Phi Le
Sunday 21 February 2016
Due low tide we anchored dink on the approach reef (dead) and walked into the now dry Koh Hong between scarps. It took up most of the island with walls towering over 200 meters. The ground seemed to be moving as thousands of little crabs stampeded out of our way during exploration. Wonder how they locate their own hidey-hole? We had anchored on the opposite side in front of a beach that wasn't quite beautiful enough for the 600 baht solicited for a stroll. Anyway about 5 NM west was a good anchorage between Yao Yai and Yao Noi with a recommended restaurant. Great food (it's Thailand you know), free wifi and a good night's sleep. Happy camping.
Wonderful sail today to Phi Phi Don (Pee Pee Don) which was too crowded, so on to Phi Phi Le which was too crowded. It's smaller. No one lives here so hoping the day trippers disappear by dusk. No other options so anchored in 18 meters before being chased to a newly liberated mooring after request by park police. What the hey, there's a nice breeze through the hatches, the small bay is calm and it's almost happy hour. Happy camping.
