R&R in MacKay

We are really impressed with the Mackay Marina. The facilities are excellent all within a beautiful setting.... a yacht club, restaurants, a lively pub, shower facilities, laundromat and a marina office that bends backwards to help.
There is also a long beach that provides a great walk for exercise.
Our trip to Laguna Quays was a bit of a disappointment. The resort was less than a resort.. very run down and in desperate need of immediate maintenance. It reminded us of a ghost town. The marina was very deserted except for the lonely harbour master. Our day was redeemed by our experiences with the captain and crew from the HMAS Broome, one of the new Armidale class patrol boats that was at the marina for an Rand R. We had a great evening exchanging stories!
We spent the next day finalising provisions, cleaning the boat and preparing for our sail to Brampton Island
