The Somes Harbor

14 August 2010 | Acadia National Park
This morning we got off the mooring in Northeast Harbor and moved to The Valley Cove in Somes Sound. Anchoring was a mess since it is very deep and bottom is rocky. We rafted up with Carina and decided not to spend the night since it wasn't in any way protected and rollers were coming in from the sound.
Hiking was superb. Beautiful views of Somes sound from the top of the mountain.
After lunch we moved in to The Somes Harbor. The most protected harbor from all sides. Anchoring was no problem in 20 ft. @ high tide. The dinghy dock and dumpsters were close by. Dog walking - no problem.
There were plenty of available moorings that were yours for taking according to one cruising guide.
