Carriacou and the Red Footed Tortoise

We finally broke suction on Grenada and had a nice sail to Carriacou. We made the 36 nautical mile passage in 6 hours, anchor up to anchor down. Carriacou is part of Grenada politically, but geographically is part of the Grenadines. The Grenadines are a string of lovely islands created as a result of a volcanic eruption of Grenada.
Carriacou is the largest of the Grenadines with 13 square miles. There are 5, 000 residents, one gas station and over 100 rum shops.
We took a walk this morning to the high point at the south end of the island and we were rewarded with a very nice visit with a red footed tortoise. These land turtles occur in South and Central America as well as the on some of the Caribbean islands.
We could spend another month or two here, but will be moving soon because there is a north swell predicted and this is a notably poor place to be in a north swell.
