Race 1 of the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta

Yesterday was the first of four races for the crewed boats (not single handed). There has been a trough of low pressure giving us cloudy days with light rain and almost no wind. The weather forecast was for very light winds and showers, but the day dawned with a blue sky and by 10:00, the start of the race we had 10-15 knots of wind and full sun. I watched the race from a press boat and got some great views of boats as they passed by. It was a breathtaking sight as the boats popped their colorful spinnakers. The light winds favored the light racing boats.
Back on the dock after the race crews cleaned the boats and celebrated a fine day with beer or champagne. I joined Hunter’s crew, on the Carriacou sloop Genesis, for a post race beer.
