We have been out of contact for a while because we have been in Barbuda without the benefit of internet. Yes, life goes on without internet and wifi, in fact you can get a lot other things done, like reading, swimming, walking on the beach and of course, doing boat chores
Barbuda is 64 square mile island that is ringed by coral reefs and there are miles of nearly pristine beaches. The highest point is 125 feet. There are 1,600 people on the island, one town (Codrington) and a very large frigate bird colony. It is said that there are more burros on the island than there are people, and I believe that. Unlike other Caribbean Islands Barbuda was never colonized for sugar plantations; it was used for growing livestock and root crops for the Codrington family in Antigua (30 miles to the south). The main industries here are sand mining and exporting the sand to Antigua and tourism. The local government and utilities also provide many jobs.
