Cape Lookout

What a handsome lighthouse! Cape Lookout is managed by the National Park Service and the beaches are well used by local folks from Beaufort, Moorehead City and the many towns in the area.

You have probably noticed that one common event of cruising is that you run into the same folks time and again in different places. Well, it happened again.
In March in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas we saw a sailboat named Maya enter the harbor. Maya was registered in Kotzebue, Alaska. We thought the chances were good that we knew the folks aboard. It turned out that Shad and Barbara were both NPS employees and had left Alaska and permanent jobs for seasonal jobs and cruising, and yes, we did know them from Alaska. We enjoyed dinners on each other's boats and parted ways. Shad and Barbara are working at Cape Lookout this summer and it was really nice to see them again.

I am writing this from Beaufort where we are anchored outside of the town waiting for the storm associated with tropical storm "Albert" to pass by. We expect high winds and rain so we are battening down the hatches at letting out more rode on the anchor.
