Caroni Swamp
20 October 2007 | Caroni Swamp, Trinidad
Devi/ Photos by Don Mockford
On our way back home from Asa Wright (home is where the boat is) we stopped in the Caroni Swamp to see Scarlet Ibis come in to roost for the night. I was thrilled to see a Silky Anteater curled up high in a tree canopy. Silky Anteaters are the smallest member of the anteater family and weigh less than a pound. They are nocturnal and spend their days sleeping in trees, high in the canopy. We also saw a Cook's Tree boa which was lopped over a tree limb in the canopy of the mangrove tress.
I can now post photos on the Gallery so check it out. I will be posting photos as I can. the photo Gallery link is on the right of this page.
