Leaving Montreal
01 July 2017
Left dock at 600am and did the tour of Lac St Louis following the channel to the shipping channel. Weather was threatening. Waited a couple minutes only for the CP Rail bridge at Kanawake. Then cleared the both Montreal locks on the Seaway by 1200 hr then were free to head down the St Lawrence. Lots of traffic around Montreal. Eventually we left the city and began the journey down river. The storm clouds were threatening. Finally, it started to rain. Then more rain. The scenery is interesting with a lot of big houses being built recently along the river. After passing many ships and half the Quebec Navy, we arrived at Sorel for the night. Originally, we were supposed to stop at Trois Rivieres however the threat of thunder storms took an executive decision to stop at Sorel. Close to Quebec Titanium plant. Very good marina and excellent restaurant. Had a couple glasses of wine and Steak Tartare. Wonderful. We were up high looking down. Rob had fish and chips. I declined as we will get plenty of cod as we head down river. So in the end, back to the boat for showers and tomorrow is another day.
Downtown Montreal with cruise boat.
