So we left the beautiful confines of Quebec Yacht Club for the center town municipal marina around lunch time. Rain and high winds again. Wash, rince, repeat! There is an 18 foot tide in Quebec City and a lock to get into the marina. They keep the water high in the actual marina. So we had to wait until the tide rose to pass thru the locks when they were open near high tide. Docked and checked in at 200PM. Very impressive marina. So we got our bearing by so we went downstream to assess the north channel around Ile D'Orleans. That is the route we will take when we leave Quebec to stay away from the narrow channel full of freighters.There are hundreds of boats here of all kinds including a couple of Volvo racers. They are being used to train Quebecers for future Volvo around the world races. They are sleek. There is also a Farr 40 a couple docks over. Sleek but not for pleasure. Rob is a racer so he was interested. Comment was the hardware is small to reduce weight. The problem with this marina is there is a major grain elevator beside us loading freighters to send our grain overseas. So very noisy. Not that far to walk to the old city though. We visited the old town after lunch and grabbed some food at a resto in the middle of the old city. It is tourist season and I would guess 50% of the tourists are Asian. Did I say it rained most of the afternoon with high winds? So an early night in the cockpit with single malt and stories. We are both following NHL free agency closely to assess the upcoming season. Rob is a devout Leafs fan and obviously I am a Habs supporter. I do not hold that against him though. He just needs to see the light! Early to bed!
