Take Two
15 May 2013 | Garry's Anchorage, Great Sandy Straits
Val and Rick
Success. Had a good night anchored at Double Island Point, the conditions were really quiet with 3 other boats joining us. Departed at 0830 hours for Wide Bay bar and successfully crossed by 1025 hours. Very low swell however a combination of a south wester and an opposing tide, made the Mad Mile as put by Coast Guard Tin Can Bay, a bit 'wishy washy', watch out for breaking waves.
After entering Wide Bay Harbour we rode the current to Garry's Anchorage where we anchored at high tide at 1230 hours. We had a trip ashore with Tiger on a leash (there is a sign warning of crocodiles), and proved Garry's Anchorage's reputation for vampire mosquitoes to be highly under rated, Rick has been eaten after pumping for nippers to provide tonight's fish meal. Unfortunately only a toadoe has been caught so far and he is definitely not on the menu.
