Lots of water
19 September 2016 | Deltaville, VA
It took about 2 hours to diesel from Dymer Creek to Regatta Point Marina in Deltaville, near Stingray Point at the mouth of the Rappahannock. We were on the edge of rain moving north, but only got a few sprinkles on the transit. A couple of hours later the heavy rain from tropical storm Julia began, and we got soaked while running errands in the courtesy car. Must have gotten 5 - 6" of rain in 3 hours or more.
A local marine store had a good price on a Honda 2.3 hp outboard, and so we bought one, leaving our old 2 hp behind. (The increase in power might come in handy - the captain's brother claims that as one gets older, one needs more power. Perhaps we should also invest in new sails...)
More rain predicted for tomorrow, so we plan to stay put for another night. The Admiral will do some laundry and other chores, while the Captain performs maintenance checks on the diesel, fills the water tank, and so on. Of course, we both have books to read.
