6 Months on December 2006

12 January 2006
6 Months on and so much has happened in such a short time. Where to begin, firstly we have sold our house and downsized to release some funds. We have completed 3 days sailing out of Brighton to gain some experience for our sailing holidays. We have had two 2 weeks sailing holidays in Greece, the first 2 week holiday included a 4 day training course where we both gained our first qualification in sailing which is keel boat level 2. Both holidays were excellent, most days started with a meeting with the lead crew and a hearty breakfast. The meeting was to discuss the days sailing destinations, arrival times at next port and any other information that we may need to know. We would then set sail for the day, stopping at some secluded bay for a bite of lunch and a swim, more sailing in the afternoon before arriving at our evening port. Once tied up it was off for a few beers and a chat with the other guys on the flotilla before all meeting for our evening meal and entertainment. Brilliant holiday already booked up for 2 weeks in 2007, see photos Greece holiday 2006.

We have been sudying non stop and hoping to take the day skipper course early 2007. Debbie is finding the course difficult especially all the calculations, I am helping her as much possible but I am unable to perform miracles.

We have been finding out as much as possible about yachts and catamarans, going to loads of dealers and boat shows etc. At first we were very interested in a catamaran this was due to the living space but now we are concerntrating on a yacht about 36 feet in length the reason being is that our first destination will be the Med and at a lot of the smaller ports a catamaran is just to large.

Our aim for 2007 is to have completed our Day Skipper course theory & practical, found and bought our yacht and hopefully sold our house and living on board the yacht.
