Lauri / Absolutely stunning.
coco beach

We were delayed by a Papagayo. We tried to get to Playa Del Coco by Thursday so we could check out by Friday and sail on the weather window at dawn Saturday. Instead we ended up in Papagayo Marina and washed up evertything while waiting for Monday morning.

Costa Rica is so much drier than I expected. And so much more beautiful than I expected. More like Northern California in the summer, except for lots more humidity. All over Central America they burn. They burn so they can grow or build, or just to get rid of the old but the dry season is one smokey time.

We rented a car Monday morning and drove out to the Immigration's office down at Coco Beach... about a 30 minute ride. We were early and had a Tico breakfast of beans & rice and eggs. It was a great way to start the day.

The yellow trees have a name, but I really don't know what it is. I do know the sign says "slow down". Some people choose to ignore it.

We had to drive out to the airport area and then back to Playa del Coco and then back to the marina. We broke all records and made it back to the boat by noon. Dois and I decided to take the shortened weather window and head as far up Nicaragua as we could before the winds started up again.

Extra:
Ginger and Daisy are the ship's Dogs. Daisy is 17 years old. Deaf and mostly blind, she approaches sailing like she does life; with grace and poise. She used to be our fishing manager and would spend the entire day "watching" the lines. We have had to promote her to "manager of dog treats" because [...]
