Today, we slept in. If not rising from bed until nearly 8:30 can be considered sleeping in. It was a much deserved rest following yesterday's long journey. Coffee was ready by nine, but we sat, talked, read, and wrote until almost noon. We then decided to go ashore for a while. I put on my snorkel gear and swam in, while Sheryl rowed Puffin ashore. We walked the beach, talked with other sailors and fisherman, and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine of the day. Sheryl found shells, numerous sand dollars, and other aquatic anomalies, while I practiced a few casts with my new casting net, yielding only one tiny fish. Regardless, my surface area spread is getting a little larger and more consistent.
We headed back to the boat near low tide, and read, swam, and enjoyed a nice breezy afternoon. As evening approached , the Coast Guard boat anchored in the bight and deployed a runabout towing an innertube. They entertained us with a game of throw-the-coast-guard-off-the-innertube as the sun set behind the sand dunes.
