Selling a Boat Ain't So Easy, After All

25 September 2006
Doug Mayle
Well, potential buyer #2 has thrown in the towel. I guess that we should not be surprised, since he never even saw Ashiya. (speaking from personal experience, nobody shopping for a boat this size who steps aboard could ever want anything else) However, lacking that experience, he found a boat closer to his home in Indiana and we wish him well.

So, we are back in position to sell, sell, sell. If you know of anyone looking for a good weekend coastal cruiser, at a very good price, please send them the following link:

On the boat buying front, we are taking some time off work at the end of this week to do some boat shopping in Annapolis. Since most of our shopping has been focused on Oriental, the 'Sailing capital of North Carolina,' the next logical step is to look in Annapolis, 'America's Sailing Capital.' Sheryl is the most organized person on the planet, and has worked diligently to organize the boats we hope to view this week. The spreadsheet, shown above, details this rather ambitious list.

Stay tuned, dear Reader, and we'll certainly let you know how it all pans out.

About:
We are Doug & Sheryl, owners and crew of the sailing vessel Prudence.

This blog starts in 2005, when we initially had the idea to quit our jobs and live on a sailboat while we cruised to the Caribbean. At that time we had never owned a boat and had no experience sailing. [...]
