Somehow, we have managed to keep fairly busy while here in Luperon, without engaging in the 'retirement community' activities. We were prepared for George Town and its reputation for organized activities; however, Luperon (quite frankly) puts George Town to shame. There are karaoke nights, swap meets, movie nights, jam sessions, game nights, organized tours, and classes on everything from Tai Chi to watercolors.
For us, though, we have spent our time (thus far) exploring the town, hiking the surrounding hillsides, and enjoying time visiting with other boaters.
Iain & Ruth, aboard s/v Bizim had us over for a spectacular dinner the other night, where they catered both to Sheryl's vegetarian restrictions and her spicy proclivities.
An unfortunately large portion of our time here has been spent trying to catch up on the computer end of things. Here we purchased a connection for the week; however, it is
painfully slow. Sheryl has been working on uploading pictues but she can only get about a half-dozen uploaded each day. For those photophiles among you, there is a new collection which captures our trip from George Town to Mayaguana. Just click on the 'Southeast Bahamas' link under RECENT PHOTOS on the left. Then watch for Turks & Caicos to be added as soon as we are able. Dominican Republic photos may have to wait until we have left this country, but keep an eye for them anyway.
Well, I hate to say this, dear Reader, but I am signing off in order to head to the Sunday swap meet. We hope it will be an opportunity to meet some others anchored here in the harbor, and perhaps we may even find an item or two we need, here aboard
Prudence.
