Ready for School

The workday is nearly over and I am waiting for Sheryl to get home. Tomorrow we depart for the Caribbean. We are headed to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Once there, we will be taking ASA sailing classes aboard a Beneteau 445. Our instructor and skipper will be Frank Dregallo. A couple from Florida will also be aboard, Steve and Angelina Kerr. Although it is a bit strange to consider 6 days and nights aboard a sailboat with people we have never met, there are 3 doubles and 3 heads stuffed down below. And besides, anyone into sailing must be great company, right?
Sheryl and I have been absolutely giddy all week. Work for her lately has been particularly grueling, with long hours and considerable pressure. Although we made these plans before we bought our own sailboat, both she and I have felt a bit guilty regarding the expense. Our bank account has sprung a leak since August when we purchased Ashiya. Considering the progress we have made toward getting Ashiya sailworthy and added work-related stress, our guilt has been pushed aside and we are ready to enjoy a sun-drenched vacation.
Wish us luck that no stray hurricanes with Greek-lettered monikers develop in our area over the next week and that we have studied enought to pass our ASA tests.
Well, time to go pack.
