What a grey day
09 May 2017 | Gocek, gulf of fethyie
Alan looking at the clouds...like being at home
The last couple of days we have spent in Gocek. We motored down the gulf of fethyie on Monday morning. Its always nice on a monday morning now that i dont work full time, just to reflect on all those bloody awful monday mornings over the past 40 years or so, wake up with that monday morning feeling, drag yourself to the shower, stand and contemplate life, crawl through the traffic, arrive at work, stare blankly at the coffee machine and think about the coming week, roll on Friday. Now it is a bit different, and I am loving every minute.
Yesterday, someone painted the sky grey would you believe!!! Looking at the weather forecast it said 2 days of rain....pah...whoever wrote that has clearly never been to the west coast of Scotland, we have had just enough rain to give a sparrow a good drink.
The grey days are being spent doing a couple of jobs around the boat, leaking water taps, leaking gas pipes!!!!...yoiks...yep leaking gas...not a good situation. Long story short, a visit to the gocek gas pipe vendor has resolved the problem.
Highlights of the last couple of days.
1. on the last occasion we pumped out the black water tank, the bung was not replaced in the bung hole, (techncal talk i like) , so it was feared lost overboard, however, on moving the dinghy , bung located. High fives all round, neighbouring boats bemused. All that bung talk about where we would locate another was in vain, i am glad to say.
2. dinghy did not sink. whilst you might think this is nothing to get excited about, in our world it is. Also known as the "patchwork quilt" , said dinghy has had another tissue sized patch applied this visit as age catches up with it, and the rubber/thread just gives up.
Have i told you about Turkish barbers?..I think i may becoming addicted. They are a manly heaven. Today i once more ventured into the very world of cut throat razors and being set alight in the name of personal well being. A Turkish shave is so much more than the slap dash affair i personally get involved with,a brief chat about what is required followed by 20 minutes of grooming any poodle would be proud of. This includes of course, having ones eyebrows styled, nose hairs plucked, head and beard shaved and clipped to within a millimetre ...followed by the piece de resistence when (hopefully) our well trained barber, produces a flame thrower to get rid of those nasty little hairs attached to the older gentleman's ears...crikey its warm and not a little scary.
Eating on board in Gocek bay tonight with lights of Gocek around us. They say there are many more boats in gocek than houses...a statement which is almost certainly true. Its a beautiful place that is for sure. Discussion tonight will surround tomorrows plan...nah..whatever :-)
