Partial boat Log for AB - 10 FEB 2017 - Abacos, Man-o-war Cay - East Bay
After the Net (SSB) yesterday, and the posting of the BLOG entry on Sailblogs.com, the gentleman that owns this mooring, here in East Bay, showed up at AB.
The mooring costs are generally $20/night, but he gives a deal for $75/ Week... Sort of a no-brainer!! We took the WEEKs worth.... And we may even extend that, and use this as a base of operations, for day sails to other islands. We'll see on that one.
NOON time we all met at the Baseball field for Bocci Ball, and then swimming in the ocean. I brought my traveling guitar. Involved were the crews from SEEKER, the Natalie Jane, Gertie, and AB. We had some great games.... There are some photos, but I'm having trouble downloading them (perhaps later).
After Bacci ball, and some music... we all retired to the adjacent Beach, for a swim. Wonderful (although the sand is so FINE, as in soft, and small, it gets everywhere, and sticks to you like dust).
We could see the clouds rolling in on us... but we thought we had time enough to get back to the west side of the island... NOT SO !!! WE got caught in the first FRONT of RAIN... Soaked... but the guitar was OK in the "union blue" guitar case... I was soaked. Susan, Earl, and Kathy tucked into a building during the first rain... I had been walking with Dawn, and Dan... they were hustling because they had open hatches on their vessel... (not good).
We joined SEEKER for cocktails at 1700 hours...after we got showered, and dried off... Then a "dinghy-raft of about 8 dinghies floated by going south, blown by the wind. So Kathy, Susan, Earl, and I piled into our dinghy and joined the raft... What a GREAT way to meet your neighbors !!!! While floating down the east bay, another tender joined us, and he brought a guitar, and proceeded to sing a few songs to the group. When we would float toward a moored vessel, on of the dinghies would start it's motor, and gently guide us around the mooring lines.
Munchies were passed around amoung the rafted dinghies....same with wine... Very nice evening.
The Wind storm hit sometime in the night... Spun us around 180 degrees... So when you look at the field this AM...everything looks weird... but we never touched anyone during the spin.... (GOOD!!).
I say GOOD, because these moorings are REALLY CLOSE to one another !!!
