Thursday 22 FEB 2018 = BTC and dinghy drift day
Today the Bahamas Telephone company lady came on the ferry. She was besieged by about 30 cruisers, all wanting SIMM cards, and telephone service (BTC). Susan and I went up there to get information on the new data plans, but the line was long, and Kathy said she’d get as much literature as she could (while she was getting her SIMM, and info)…. But we stayed anyway….
Because with all the cruisers right there at the BTC OFFICE, IT now became the social center of Green Turtle Cay.
After the BTC OFFICE Trial, Earl, Kathy, susan and I went to lunch at Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar. Great Food, and good service. The power went out again all over the island (ostensibly the new pump that they bought for the power station, (down Island), FAILED. So they must be trying to install another pump. CASH only…. (can’t service credit cards, or even open the registers (electrically)…)
This evening was a the “first in a row” of dinghy-drifts down through the harbor (sometimes known as a “dink and drink” ( five or six dinghies from the cruising boats in the harbor, get together, tie up together, and float (or in this case be blown in high winds) down the length of the harbor, while consuming munchies, and alcohol.
Fun meeting new boaters this way… We did it for the first time last year in Man-0-War cay. NICE.
