Attached is a photo of the new KISS wind generator system... WELL... not really the whole system... as there's quite a bit of voltage, and current control equipment located inside the boat... (not shown)..

We mounted the KISS unit on top of our existing Solar Stik (solar panels)... The Solar STIK (correct spelling BTW) was originally designed to accept a wind generator, (but I think a much lighter, in wgt, unit, and one with much shorter blades (radius).

So the solar panels still rotate to track the sun's movement... We're anxious to connect the rest of the system... to see just HOW GREEN we've become...
The winds down here in the Keys the last few weeks would have fully charged the batteries with just the wind system.

We have chosen the dual voltage water heater element as our "diversion load" (when the batteries are fully charged, any excess current gets 'diverted' to heating water.
Jake (s/v Gypsy Song) tells me that IF you (we) have a refrigerator, and freezer on board, and use them like a 'cruiser'...(i.e. full time)... The diversion load might never see current !!!! I guess we'll see... They have the same unit mounted high on their mizzen mast (Gypsy Song Ketch).

I'm surprised how high off the water our Wind generator is now... I guess we don't really realize how high things are... We always compare things to the mast...
BUT in this case... the higher the better... wind wise... and just to keep you from accidentally reaching up to stretch, and catching a rotating blade on part of your body.
