Tuesday, July 1st 2014 – Summer

Wow… How time flies! It’s already July… IT seems like we just got to our summer home at HON.

The sun is barely showing here, as I write… Norton is updating it’s ‘virus files’…. So I’m writing on WORD, and waiting to post…

Last night we drove over to Hudson, and saw “Jersey Boys” (movie)… GREAT !!!! very well done… Clint Eastwood wins again as director. But it cost us a leisurely dinner… actually we had Popcorn for dinner.

By the time we got out of the pool here…(had to cool down our core temps – HOT and humid here), we had 25 minutes to make it to Hudson before the movie started… CLOSE!!!


I’ve been trying to sort out the books we bought at Friday’s Book Sale in East Aurora… The I-Pad books, although written for an English (as in England) audience… have been very informative… (prices in POUNDS). It’s still amazing to me that there are no instructions for the i-Phone, or i-Pads… If you don’t have kids that can tell you how to do things on these technological miracles… we’d be LOST!

Summer Varnishing on AB has begun: cap-rails; fender boards; gang-plank; deck trim; etc.


Yesterday, while Susan was doing the shopping, up on the ‘hill’, I completely washed the boat… (at least on the outside, and cockpit). The parking lot dust, under the right (or wrong) wind conditions, makes the deck and cockpit all ‘gritty’. The washing went well except for two “hose blow-outs”. The water pressure here is WILDLY high… (over 80 psig). Good thing I’ve laid in all those hose repair parts from “Lowes”. J

I did get a chance to clean the area behind the stove, and the storage areas in the galley too… Throw out old frying pans (Because my new non-stick frying pan [Father’s Day present] reigns!!! ), etc.


I’ve made my mind to really go through the storage areas this summer, and TOSS everything that we haven’t used in 8 years of cruising… and have carried for over 20,000 nautical miles…


Today, I’d like to change the sink drain in the galley…. It seems that by hanging the dinghy from the starboard side of the vessel all winter, in the FL Keys, the AB heels just enough to put that sink drain under the salt water, and the brass that holds the ‘stopper’ just rotted away. So I’d best get a new one in there… before the whole fitting rots, and becomes a ‘hole’ in the boat!!! Not Good!

OK…. The Norton Virus thing is nearly done… So I’ll stop and post.
