Weather Window this weekend to ‘round NJ… coming too quickly…. So I guess we’ll sit tight for a few more days…. WE can’t make it down to NYC in time to “make” this window…
This weekend is Sean’s (Owner of Creekside, and HON) Customer Appreciation Party… and possibly the “TIKI” dock party.. (weather permitting)… SO all is NOT lost… hehehe  i.e. Partying… someone has to do it…. Right?
Yesterday was interesting… It was, as I call it, “FUEL day”…. Measured both the Midship, and Bow tanks… and then added fuel to the Bow tank… Checked out fuel transfer pump, and system…
Mid-ship tank is now nearly FULL at 92 Gallons; and the Bow Tank has about 60 to 70 Gallons in it….
I’d like to get the Jerry Cans (2) filled, before we leave… So after that was done… I started the 6 kW Generator… JUST to make sure everything was FINE….. WELL……………………… it was not fine…
The temperature kept rising… hummmm ????? So I touched the raw water pump’s impeller cover, burned the skin on two fingers… ouch! And immediately shut down the Generator… OK… it ran fine the other day… What changed? Trouble shooting started at the Raw Water Filter…. HUMMM
Good Place to start, because that area WAS the problem… Some large BLOB of something had clogged the intake line… restricting, or eliminating the flow of cooling water… When the top of the Perko filter was removed, and the seacock opened… NOTHING flooded out of the filter. OH OH !! So I removed the lines from the seacock to the filters… YEP… there’s the blockage… smelly, and black, and jammed in the hose end by the 90 elbow to the filter. Removed.
But, the damage was done… The impeller (raw water pump) had to be checked…. Sure enough…missing blades… one stuck in the pump, and one went all the way to the heat exchanger… So it was disassemble time…. The Generator now has a new impeller, and a clean heat exchanger… Yeah! The unit now runs at it’s normal 172F temp…. double Yeah!
The weather brought some really heavy rains during the night, but was almost clear enough to see the eclipse this morning 0600 hours, …. We got up in time to see the “blood moon”, but we had lingering clouds just to the west of us… (Obscuring the view).
