A surprising two week hiatus from San Pedro was not what the doctor ordered. The San Juans, Canada and Alaska were the destinations. They were for not when a crewman flew the coop for personal issues. A comment made by a dear friend cruising in Florida puts this all in perspective: "A cruiser's plans are written in the sand at low tide." Thank you, David, for these wise words. Passing through Angel's Gate to Cabrillo Marina two weeks after the start of our 5 month voyage North was a moment of clarity bringing with it a rather different perspective on friendships, commitments and what they really mean.
