Southbound

30 September 2018
Shoulder surgeries have delayed AB3's southbound departure.

White Island

A few days spent at White Island

Sweet Home Long Beach

31 August 2016
So it's true that after almost two years in San Pedro CYM, I have moved ABIII back to Long Beach and the World famous JKL Yacht Club. Yes I will deal with the City of LB and the Dirt Rain, however, the lack of facilities and isolation that is San Pedro has pushed me away. Already I have been out doing what I do best and enjoying the change in venue. Happy people that use their boats is the goal here and I think I have rediscovered this. Sail on my friends. Don't let go without a fight. Ship Ahoy!

Little Harbor Sail Catalina

02 August 2016
Avalon Blew III made her way to Little Harbor and a delightful few days of R&R. Hiked to the Airport in the Sky, dodged buffalo and wet kayaks for a well deserved respite.

July 4th, Queen Mary Style

12 July 2016
Anchored off the Queen Mary in Long Beach watching another spectacular fireworks show. Thank you Richard and the gang.

Back Home

10 June 2016
A surprising two week hiatus from San Pedro was not what the doctor ordered. The San Juans, Canada and Alaska were the destinations. They were for not when a crewman flew the coop for personal issues. A comment made by a dear friend cruising in Florida puts this all in perspective: "A cruiser's plans are written in the sand at low tide." Thank you, David, for these wise words. I will remember them as I move through this anomaly. Passing through Angel's Gate to Cabrillo Marina two weeks after the start of our 5 month voyage North was a moment of clarity bringing with it a rather different perspective on friendships, commitments and what they really mean. Ship ahoy my friends.

Long Beach of Bliss

04 June 2016
A spectacular sail across Santa Monica Bay screaming through Queens Gate clocking 7kts was a thrill. A great ending sail of 70+ miles to a week of surprises and thrills..........all to be remembered well here anchored off White's Island, Long Beach, Ca., Sail on my friends.

South bound ho!

04 June 2016
After a rather nautical trip around Point Conception, we are off to parts further south. Gusts to 35kts with some rather large waves produced a couple of wary sailors. A hot shower and meal in Channel Islands Harbor rejuvenated all so away we go.

The picture is sunset with Pt Conception in the rear view mirror. Thank You!

Away we go again

02 June 2016
Headed back home to try another day. Morro Bay has been delightful and the Yacht Club has been fun. Good group of sailors. John has left with Anita. We will depart in the morning for a Point Conception rounding sometime tomorrow night. We are headed for Santa Cruz Island, Smugglers Harbor. Stay for a few days then head back to my slip in San Pedro. Stay turned.
