20100624 Ceuta-Spain in Africa
We relocated aVida to Ceuta (Thuta as they pronounce it), as the suggestion from Dani as a safe place to store aVida for five weeks while we traveled inward and returned to the USA for several weeks.
Ceuta is an authentic Spanish town, on the very tip of Africa north of Morocco. It is a smaller city, not touristy at all, and as a result very difficult to find English speaking people.
Although, everywhere we walked we encountered very polite people who, while driving through the streets, stop immediately when they see crossing pedestrians. What a pleasure. We felt safe. Most importantly, aVida was safe for those five weeks. We do regret not being able to share the day of their winning the World Cup, but we did experience a taste of their exuberance in several semi-final games, at a local marina bar we frequented called Spoon..... Many Spaniards dressed in Espana Tshirts clapping, jeering, shouting, waving.... such national spirit!
