A belated start to keeping this blog as we are now en route from Cairns to Port Douglas.
A quick catch up:
Running late and totally frazzled we sailed out of Pittwater early Monday May 25th ably farwelled by Andrew Minter and Susie Cummings on the good ship Narrawi. After a night in Newcastle being ferried about and having fun with sisters Sue and PJ we sailed onto Mooloolaba. the wind was patchy and there was a fair bit of motor sailing involved. We refound our sealegs and slid into the 3hours on 3 hours off routine. Always feel shattered day 2 but then its okay.
Our newly purchased AIS wa a fantastic aid at identifying tankers, big ships and fellow cruisers and alerting us as to whether we needed to avoid them or not. Very comforting on a black night at 4 in the morning. We reached Mooloolaba at 11.45 on May 29th and had a great sleep all night! The next day we set sail for Magnetic Island which we duly reached at 6.30 am on Thursday 4th June. It was a great sail with brisk winds all the way.
Two nights were very pleasantly passed in Nelly Bay's sweet little marina. Old friends Poss and Dee joined us for a fun night of catching up and we departed for Cairns next day, at about 15.30 on June 6th.
