Extra:
Our "Angels Wings" is a Bristol 24. For those not familiar with these little chunks, think of the B24 as heavy Alberg-esque (Paul Coble designed) keel boat with slightly more full ends -- 6' headroom, 8' beam… very slack bilged by modern standards, and easy riding (for her size) when going to weather. Nearly 6000 pounds displacement, with a 50% ballast ratio, she is quite stable underfoot -- after about 10-deg heel…

Ours is the iron ballast (and whatever else Bristol threw in) model with the dinette configuration… Other than that , we don’t know too much about the former history of our little sloop, except she’d been semi-abandoned at a moorage, floating low in the water and not registered for nearly half a decade when we got her. In happier times, however, she'd spent twenty something years being actively sailed and cared for up East by a good family…

With us, Angels Wings will probably never be a true museum piece, but we fell in love with Paul Coble’s classic, curvaceous hull lines and even with a filthy bottom on her initial outing, she sailed like a real lady. Despite barnacles aplenty and a few blisters Wings quickly hinted of voyaging to strange, new places -- like a much larger craft -- so we’re having fun participating in her ladylike renaissance…
