Mariah/ Beautiful
We had a wonderful day motoring from Titusville. The weather was finally nice and we were able to sit on deck in short sleeves. I checked the guidebook for some anchorages for the night but it was either a stop at one place at 3pm or try and go 20 more miles and risk getting to an anchorage after dark. We decided to go for it and go the extra miles.
We happened upon an anchorage that the guidebooks failed to mention. A large sign at the far end of an island proclaiming Captain Hiram's resort and beach bar. Very shallow water - 5 ft to be exact and we draw 4'2. There were two other sailboats in the anchorage so we figured we could get in ok. A little hairy but we made it. Dave dinghyed in to get diesel and decided that this beach bar was a place we should visit. We motored back in - Dave barefoot- and saddled up to the bar. The place was pretty empty but the epidomy of a beach bar! Fire pit and thached roof. We finally felt like we were someplace warm. We ordered some beers and a fish sandwich and met some great people that we attempted to pursuade into buying a boat and sailing off into the sunset as well. It was a great night and so nice to leave at the end of the night and push our dinghy off the sandy beach and head back to our boat. So if your ever in Sebastian, FL you gotta check out Captain Hiram's Beach Bar...but I'll bet it's way better if you can boat there!
