Leaving Turks and Cacois
06 January 2013 | Luperon, Dominican Republic
Steve/ Windy as Hell
As planned, we left Provo and traversed the banks to Sand Cay, arriving there about 8PM. Had a fairly nice anchorge and slept till 3AM and headed out to Luperon, Dominican Republic - an 80nm trip. Again, the seas and wind were not nice to us. We did have a beam reach for the most part and as you can see from the pic, we were moving on. We reached 9kts on several occassions but had winds from 20 - 25 kts the whole way with some pretty big seas. The photo does not do it justice but the seas were really boiling and again, were quite steeped and close. We reached Luperon about 4PM and it was a most welcome sight. Here we are motoring up the harbor which is well protected and was filled with at least 50 other boats anchored.
