Back in Brunswick, Georgia
30 October 2014
We are back! We arrived in Brunswick on Saturday, October 18 after a leisurely drive from Kingston, through Montreal to visit our niece Margaret, partner John and 'Baby' John, to Lake Placid, Williamsburg, Virginia, the Outer Banks of the Carolinas, Beaufort, North Carolina and Beaufort, South Carolina. The added bonus of seeing Margaret was seeing Ken's brother Mac and wife Doreen who were visiting as well.
When we arrived back in Ontario, we purchased a 2008 Toyota Solara convertible as we were finding that we were renting cars a lot or frequently travelling on buses. The car allowed us more flexibility. Plan to leave the car at the marina here when we head south for the winter.
Since our arrival, we have been busy getting all systems up and running again. We had a telephone call from the marina shortly before leaving Kingston, that our inverters were not working and that our batteries had drained. We were fearful that the same problem had occurred as in Mexico last year, but the marina was able to get things running again. Ken, with the assistance of another Nordhavn owner Kevin, was able to bypass the inverters to give them a rest and the batteries appear to be ok. Hopefully we will continue to do this when at dock as it is very expensive to replace inverters and batteries. Since our arrival, the oil has been changed for all 3 engines, valve clearances has been checked and adjusted, valves surrounding the sea chest have been replaced, bilges cleaned, canvas cleaned, boat power washed, boat reprovisioned, interior cleaned, etc. We have been busy!
