Galley slave, winds lights to variable
As our leaving date comes closer and we do our own last visits and calls to our families we would like to say a big thanks to friends who kindly took the time out of their own busy lives to pay us a visit before we set sail.
We have had three in particular in the last week:
Heather and Ted, who came from Princetown via Portugal, with vino, to visit us and make notes of our yacht so that when we get to Portugal we can meet up as they will be returning to Portugal later in the year on the own intrepid journey in their RV.
Secondly to Ray and Joan (not sure if Joan would be able to find any sea-legs for her to be able to come aboard - but she did... which Chandlery did she get them in I wonder?) who also visited from Princetown which they had left in a warm mist.
And lastly to long term friends Steve and Erika and not forgetting the dogs - Megan (Jack Russell- should be Jill?) and Bronwyn and her son Skye who are curly-coated retrievers (I think). Steve and Graham joined the Army as apprentices at Chepstow in 1972. Anyway I thought my dog walking days were over but the three dogs had other ideas! They all came down from Shrewton in their RV and stayed for a few days which enabled us to remember the 'good ole days', have the odd bottle of wine and even one of Fizz (thanks Erika!) along with a few good meals and lots of laughs.
All in all we have had lots of visitors over the last nine months and we do include you all in our thanks for coming to visit and being understanding and wondering why we haven't gone yet, and if we were ever going to go .... well we are on our way as we have done all 'work' on our lists plus a few extra that only came to light once some had been completed.
We had the maintenance guru go over the boat for us one last time (aka Merv from the Boathouse) and answer our last minute questions, and to Neil and his staff from Hemisphere Rigging. Thanks to all of you who took the time to give us your expert advice.
This photo shows Steve and Erika below decks on their visit….. thanks to you both.
