We left Maitre Island at 0700 and sailed down to Amedee light and out the pass about 1000. Winds started at 12-14 kts ESE then eased to 8-10kts. We are making good time at 5-6 kts sailing almost due south on relatively calm seas. We expect another 36 hrs of this before we meet a high coming north that will bring strong (20 kts) SE winds for 24 hrs. After that, we are hoping for a nice NE wind all the way into NZ. Fingers crossed. This trip could take anywhere from 7-9 days. All is well on board. wendy is thawing a roast for dinner - yum! Its good to have a soft start as this will help us transition back into our passage making rhythm.
