It has been a pretty relaxing 24 hours since the last blog post. We fished all yesterday afternoon while motor sailing, but so far our luck of catching anything has been about the same as the last Pacific crossing I did.... meaning 0. We had a bunch of albatross (albatri for plural?) following us all afternoon. It was the first time I saw one and the birds are HUGE. I guess they need the wingspan to stay aloft way out here for so long. I've been trying to determine our position using the sextant for the past couple days... harder than you would think on a moving boat. The closest I have gotten is 60 miles away.... I suppose I should be glad I am even in the right ocean. Aside from that, all is well. Today we have a pretty steady 10-15 knot wind coming from the north west and have been flying the spinnaker all morning cruising at 7-8 knots course over ground. Its sunny and warm with big rolling swells, very smooth sailing. -G
