Slow-n-steady

The weather has been gorgeous: sunny, warm and light breezes. Yesterday was too light to sail, so we motored all night on glassy seas and under a ceiling of stars you'd hafta see to believe. You could actually see individual stars reflecting on the ocean surface. Today, we are sailing close hauled in 6-8 kts TWS and making pretty decent boat speed (4-5 kts) and sailing mostly due north, but trying to put some easting in as the wind allows. We've got another day of this, then the forecast calls for NE winds, which is problematic, since we want to go that way. I guess we just keep working our way up until we find the steady NE trade winds and hopefully we'll have enough easting in by then to turn left and head for Hawaii.
Yesterday we caught a mahi mahi, which is my favorite fish. It wasn't huge, but provided 3-4 meals. Wendy made fish tacos with homemade refried beans today. Both were amazing! In fact, she tried 3 different treatments for the fish, so it was like one of those cooking shows where we got to be the judges. Of course, Gavin and I had to eat enough of each seasoning to ensure a fair sampling... I think it might be coming up on nap time!
Anyway, all is well with ship and crew aboard Bangorang
