500 Miles to Go
15 June 2016
Wendy
We are moving along at about 6 knots on just our jib in 17 knots of wind. The wind angles are good for this which is good for us since our main blew out this morning. We knew that was a possibility when we left Bora Bora and we were prepared to turn back if necessary, but now that we are within 500 miles of Honolulu we are thankful the main lasted as long as it did. The sail maker was previously notified of our repair needs (just a bit bigger of a repair now) and he expects a call after we check in so he can meet us at the dock. Our other parts for the boom and track repair have arrived in Honolulu. "Boat repair in exotic places" is was what a few of our seminars told us blue water cruising would be and now Colin would say "True Dat"! It is a glorious day and a very pleasant ride. The waves have calmed down and our "front wheel drive" vehicle is moving along nicely. We have plenty of fuel if the wind gives out and we need it, but the gribs say we can expect more of the same for the next few days. So off we go!
