Heading East

Well we officially made it to the high at ~43 degrees north and have turned east to run for Washington. It has gotten pretty cold lately, down to the low 60s at night and getting colder as we move north. May not seem that bad to you readers but factoring in the wind chill and the fact that we have spent the past 2 months in weather higher than 80 degrees..... well it is frigid. I suppose you already got to hear about our whale escort in yesterdays blog. Pretty cool seeing them up that close and realizing how fast they can move for something so large. Easily outpaced the boat. What I am really hoping is to see some Orca whales as we get close to Washington. Anyways not much to report on today. We are motor sailing at about 6 kts in 10-12 kts of wind from the north right now. This should last through the afternoon at which point the weather is supposed to pick up and it will get substantially windy by tomorrow. I am betting we are in for 1 or 2 sleepless nights if past experience with these weather predictions is anything to go by. That's all for now. -Gavin
