The winds are a coming....
20 July 2016
We are expecting some bigger winds today/tonight but everything has been quite manageable so far (knock on wood). We are skating along at 7knots COG in 20-22 knots of wind. We are pointing a little north of the rhumbline to get a little more north in before we turn due east when the winds clock around to north. The gribs predict 24 knots in the middle of the night (the bad weather is ALWAYS in the middle of the night) which means we might see some gusts up to 30. We had a bit of a bumpy night last night, but Colin and I slept very well. What a difference sleeping on the windward side of the boat makes. Its amazing! I think moving along at 6.5-7.5 knots feels smother than at slower. speeds I think it must take the top off the waves or something. I was even able to do a workout this morning during my shift. Planking and doing the superman stretch is a little challenging in a boat pitching around at 7 knots but its doable and I figure its a better core workout right? So you ask,....What does one eat in cold bumpy weather? Well chicken Tortilla soup for lunch (warm and comforting) and a frozen lasagna for dinner (absolutely zero work AND a warm comfy salon from the oven heating).
