Since several of our cruising guides warned of a dangerous rip tide that can form off Point Wilson during a strong ebb tide we elected to leave Fort Worden at high slack water, which happened to be 3AM (Ugh!). I guess it payed off as we had a smooth rounding and proceeded the 30 miles to Victoria BC with a 1 kt current assist the whole way.
Victoria is a beautiful city and we took a slip at the Causway docks, which are right downtown. From here we could walk or bus just about anywhere. In 3 dayswe saw the BC museum (awesome), toured the Parliament building (beautiful), visited a magnificent 19th century home called Castle Craigdarrouch, hiked Beacon Hill park and walked all over the downtown area geocaching.
Tomorrow we head for Ganges on Saltspring Island in the Canadian Gulf Islands.
