A New Year and New Adventurings !!

06 January 2016 | Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas
Alex, sunny and hot with a chance of new resolutions
Happy 2016 to each and every one of you, from the Capt'N and I !!

****

As I sit here, thinking about what wise words of adventure the new year might divulge, I'm rather anxious and excited, as happens when one sees change on the horizons.

A new year, a flip of the calendar page, a new digit, a new number. Just what does it all mean ?

Resolutions? Do you resolve towards Resolutions?

I, admittedly sometimes cringe at the thought of New Years resolutions, they can be as flippant as the time it takes to make them. However, in some way, shape or form, a resolve towards change, a burst of energy towards something... can be motivating and energizing and empowering.

Resolutions in hand, or not, I always love to try and greet each new morning with joy, looking forward to exciting paths to dance on, a new blank page of possibilities, as of yet, unwritten. And the end of each day signals yet another myriad of experiences to learn from, smile at and most of all, to be grateful for.

Encounters and events and friends to be appreciative of. And all of that somehow pushing us onwards and towards our very own path of personal change that we've been talking and thinking and dreaming, and perhaps even resolving, about.

With that said, the Capt'n and I have been talking and thinking and dreaming about this New Year, this upcoming Season.

We've spent four (OMG, four??? Four!!) wonderful years cruising, exploring, working and playing in the sun, sand and surf of the Southern Caribbean, the Lesser Antilles.

We've ventured as far South as Trinidad, have missed a few places on our list (always leave something to go back for, right?), sought new anchorages, went back to now familiar anchorages, met delightful people from all corners of the world...

"We need to go somewhere new" said the Capt'n.
"Ya, but Where??" I queried?

"It's time for a change" said the Capt'n.
"Ya, but What?" I responded.

"We need to plan our voyages" he said.
"Where we going, and when?" I agreed.

We wondered and researched and imagined the possibilities. And at the end of the day, we would sit in our cockpit and watch the sun set and we thought, and thought, and then we thought some more, and might've enjoyed a rum-based sundowner or two!!

After all change is hard !! We remember, like it was yesterday, how we totally changed our lives four years ago as we embarked on this fantastic out of the four walls we call a house type of lifestyle, and moved into 40 feet of space. We turned our dream into our reality. We sailed forth towards a new and different lifestyle ruled and guided by weather and the seasons, totally self-sufficient on the seas.

So, why change "living the dream", you know? We knew we still want to travel, to explore, to discover, to Adventure. We just needed a new plan, a new place, New Adventurings!!

And with that the Capt'n and I are...

"...We're heading North!!"

"Well, not really North, not the Great White North!"
"Just slightly More North than where we've recently been"

Banyan will head North-ish !! Our new plan is to explore the "Greater Antilles". We will start at the Virgins, then move to Puerto Rico. The Dominican Republic. Turks and Caicos. Bahamas. Cuba. And whatever else comes our way!!

How totally new, how totally exciting !!

And best of all, we have even more exciting and adventuring type of plans in the works for Hurricane Season 2016, that will be revealed with time and passage.

So stay tuned!! We hope you continue to voyage along with us, support us, follow us, friend us (like us on Facebook, and tell your friends so they can like us on Facebook, wink wink), and most of all, stop by and say Hi if you see our paths crossing.

Here's to Resolutions - whatever yours may be, take whatever steps you need to make them happen. One small step at a time, and keep on moving... they all add up!! Happy New Year. Happy Adventurings !!

And psst, even though we may be heading "North", we are still promising to shout out Banyan's theme song "See you Somewhere South of Somehwere"
