Alex, and it's too early to tell.
There's just something about early mornings, isn't there?
****
Just south of Jacksonville, at Blount Island, is where we anchored for the night, a scant few hours after leaving The Marina at Ortega Landing, where we'd spent the better part of a week finishing the last of the boat preps that make
Banyan sail worthy.
We're back to spending extra time consulting the many resources to make our travels through this area, as deep as possible. We dusted off our "Managing the Waterway" (Doyle), we took a moment to refresh ourselves with our sailing apps, which all pointed to studying tides and currents and depths and bridges.
The weather for the next few days was really not favourable for us to exit at St Augustine and sail southwards, and since we needed to make some tracks, we opted to follow our route of four years ago. St Augustine, Daytona, Titusville and Vero, where we will wait for favourable weather to make an offshore run down the coast.
Mornings though. Cup of hot coffee in hand, watching the darkness of night give way, and the colourings of the day start to appear. There's a slight crispness to the air, and along with the promise of soon to be warmth of the sun, there's knowledge that a whole day of possibilities lies ahead, the idea that anything is doable, an excitement of plans made and coming to light.
I inhale the silence, the peace and quiet, and exhale love. Feeling especially grateful that our plans have come together. Grateful for Banyan, and all our sore muscles, a sure sign of all the hard work we'd spent the last month accomplishing, that got us to this point, today, this morning.
And best of all, grateful for my words that are back up and... wording. Good morning :)
