What is with this fog?? Can't even see the buildings out my office window - it's a wall of grey mist.

I am sitting here wishing away the next couple of weeks and contemplating what still needs doing before we leave for our sail-about. Another 2+ weeks and counting !!

However, I first wanted to play with this website while still on land, to all the better use it while we're out and about. I've (hopefully) attached some pictures of our Canada Day sailpast. SYC being a CF club, this is a military tradition to have the sailboats sail past HMCS Sackville for a salute. It was my job to dip the flag and stand at attention... yes sir ! You can see the boats leaving SYC and truly, it was mysteriously impressive to be out watching the other boats slowly solidify as they sail out of the fog. You know, even the mist somehow doesn't dispel the sailing experience.

We still need to finish getting the boat ready - it's sad to say but we've only been out twice so far. Between Dave's hectic schedule and travels and then this oh so lovely Nova Scotia weather it really hasn't been conducive to spending lovely evenings lolling about on the water. On Canada Day, the sun actually dispersed the clouds for a little bit and we took her out for an afternoon sail down the harbour and back. Lots of other boats out doing the same thing, taking advantage of a day off and an almost sunny break. It did cool off rather fast around supper time when we brought her in but at least we were out for a few hours :)

Speaking of schedules, even the next few weekends will be limited as to how much prep work we can get done. The big Regatta for the Cure, happening at SYC is coming up in a week, and we still haven't decided if we're going to participate in the race. It'll be quite a day, with SYC hosting this huge event organized by AJ that is now being listed as "international" and for such a good cause too. Here's hoping the sun shines down for that one! It's a one day, all day event, and it promises to be quite a crowd. And the weekend after that the Tall Ships are in, so here's hoping for some more nice weather as we sailabout snapping some shots of that !!

Dave discovered he has to play around and tighten the rigging some more and there's a list of things yet to be take care of before she's ready for our sail-about. And I, being a woman and all that, am wondering what kind of wonderful foodstuffs I can bring onboard for some amazing culinary dishes while we're anchored in some inlet we've found.

Canada Day was a first for me - first time I brought Illihee II home !! Of course, conditions were ideal, there was barely any wind, and hardly any current to speak of, so it was "simply" a matter of bringing her in... with Dave standing behind me and providing direction, it was really quite easy. So here's to one more notch in my belt :)
