Chasing the sun with sundowners!

Ahh... chasing the sun with sundowners - there's no life like it !!
Sunday's lack of rain had us doing some boatwork : rigging needed to be adjusted, lines prettied up and fixed to stop chafing. Poor ILLIHEE II has been leaking somewheres along the mast and with all the rain we had, well it was a worry. So Dave once again taped and re-taped and let's hope that this new job stops the leak for good (how about we just hope for no more rain !!) ??
I was the gopher yesterday - go-fer this, go-fer that LOL standing by with the tools and tape and hold this up and hold that down... Now, the one job I was hoping to get done which was shine up the chrome (on that list of things to do since last year), didn't get done as guess what? The sun peeked out from underneath them nasty dark blue clouds and the winds died right down... harbour was pretty calm and so we looked at each other and no question as to what was on our minds!! Off went the sail cover and off we went. Looking out towards the ocean you could see nothing but beautiful blue skies.
Just a short sail down to the Halifax waterfront was enough of a fix to enjoy the peacefulness and calm that always envelops us when we're on the water. Saw a seal poke its head out and enjoy the sun as well, probably wondering what that big bright yellow thing in the skies was !! The sounds of music could be heard wafting towards us from the Halifax waterfront - we figured it was the party at the Lower Deck. Nice.
I had prepared a tinfoil meal to BBQ just in case. Chicken, potatoes, carrots, spices and a dollop of butter all wrapped up in tinfoil, nothing easier than that I figure !! I knew the meal would need a good 45 minutes to cook, so we had the bright idea to start up the BBQ as we were still out and about, something we'd never done before as we usually wait until we're all tied up and cleaned up before starting the meal.
However, the BBQ lighter is not to be found anywhere !! Dave, ever resourceful (a la McGyver) tried to light a rolled up wad of paper-towel and well let's just say, easier said than done. All's well that ends well, though, and the BBQ finally started, tinfoil meal went on and we proceeded to sail another hour while our meal cooked, so by the time we were docked and all straightened away, we were ready to eat and voila.. !! No salt, no pepper or butter onboard, but hey, it was pretty darn good anyways, as i had originally put plenty on along with the spices... Why does food always taste better after a bit of a sail-about ?
I don't know if it would be worth doing again though as some of the "gravy-grease" splattered all over Illihee's stern so we had to clean that up, and having done that, it'll now need to be re-waxed I am guessing. Live and learn, but have fun in the process right?
This beautiful sunset shot was taken last night when all that was left was to sip the wine and enjoy, and enjoy our Sunday we did !
