Days 4 and 5 - Miami Boat Show Stuff
21 February 2010 | Miami
Alex (pretty damn cold for FL !!)
Dave and I spent Saturday and Sunday attending the many seminars @ the Marriott. Armed with (very lousy) coffee we listend to some pretty informative (and some not so informative) speakers and talked to a few interesting people along the way.
Sailboat Buying 101 presented by one of the local marina's was umm, so so. Liza Copeland's "Cruising for Couples" provided an interesting and informative talk as did John Kretschmer, author of "Mercy of the Sea".
Saturday night's entertainment was the Latts and Att's party, hosted by the famous Bob Bitchin !! Pizza and Beer galore (and free) and with the masses of people huddling together I guess we really didn't notice how cold it was. Lots of prizes given away, and great music by Eric Stone.
Sunday's list of workshops included "Sailboats For A Serious Ocean - 25 Great Sailboats For World Voyaging" by John Kretschmer, "Cruising the Caribbean Circuit" by Liza Copeland, and "Safety at Sea with the Marine SSB". Again, all very interesting and informative and as always, lots to learn in each and every one of them.
Valentine's Day Dinner at Calibri's. Conch Fritters and an amazing garden salad, followed by Veal Marsala (for moi) and Chicken Parmigian (pour lui). Yumm and hearts galore !!
