Day 6 - A Zoom-About
21 February 2010 | Miami
Pretty sunny and almost warm
Dave surprised me with "let's go see if we can rent a boat" and so off we went to the Miami waterfront and rented ourselves a cute little powerboat, and went zooming the waterways for the afternoon.
Fun, fun, fun in the sun. We exited the Bay and scooted up towards Miami Beach for a while and although we could see some people in the water, we couldn't bring ourselves to jump in. We're just getting too old to be cold LOL. We did dangle our toes in the water while enjoying our lunch and marvelling at the (almost) warm day we were having.. water was really green, skies were bluer than blue, sun was shining and we were in t-shirts and shorts... It was just nice to be out bobbing on the water :)
Ater lunch we zoomed back into the Bay and went touring around Stone Island etc... where all the "rich people" live. Perfectly beautiful mansions, one after the other. Would you believe that we did not see one person out enjoying their villas. I did see a gardner or two. We used up every minute of our allotted 4 hours. A very strong Rum Runner at "Let's make a Daiquirie" while listening to a local cuban band playing. Nice.
Purely by happenstance, we noticed what looked like it might be an exposition of Cats... and curious buggers that we are, we went closer to take a peek. Sure enough it was part of the Boat Show (??) and so in we went :) Cats galore and huge ! Wow. Way to big (and pricey) for us but kinda nice to see how the other half live.
But we did notice a Gemini (Cat) that we really liked. Trampoline in front replaced by solid deck. Interesting. We'd met a NB couple that had one at one of the workshops, but didn't really have the time to chat them up about it.
A truly wonderful vacation type of day, and even though neither one of us are powerboaters, it was fun !! I know Dave had a few thrills and kicks while zooming around... An excellent meal at The Steakhouse to end all that.
