Saturday Shenanigans

Cool, Windy, Choppy...
Woke up to tons of very gusty winds and still very choppy seas. No matter, we enjoyed our morning cup of java watching the Regatta for the Cure sailboats meander in. Wish we would have had the time to have organized ourselves to be able to participate... as it was, between Dave and my jobs, the wedding, family obligations, etc, we found ourselves pretty damn lucky to even be sitting on the boat watching !! Nevertheless, there we were.. Saturday morning, hot cup of java, gusts of wind, lots of boats... Spectacular.
We had a list of "things to do" and number one was our immediate lack of water... We had ran the watermaker for about an hour yesterday, just to make sure it worked and how it worked, but we really didn't want it using harbour water... in any case, both our water tanks were on empty so that was number one on our priority list.
Dave was also having quite an interesting and boisterous conversation with the propane connection to the galley stove... Initial lighting of the burner lasts all of 5 minutes, then the flame goes out, like WTF ? (we were pretty to have gotten our hot cup of java weren't we?). The solenoid in the propane locker was hot to the touch and overheating... we checked the couplings on the galley burners, not a problem there... the problem really seems to reside in the mechanism, it is 10 years old, so it might just have to be replaced... frustrating to say the least as there seems to be no access to remove the panel... not sure how this particular problem will resolve itself...
So we packed her up, cleaned up and motored/sailed down the Arm.. Always a lovely sail if for nothing else than to just stare at the magnificent mansions that dot the shoreline. Always amazing to see these multi-million dollar homes, yet no one around enjoying the opulence, interesting.
We filled her up, diesel and water, and came back to enjoy a few sundowners and a lovely supper at Timmins Cove, where nature bedazzled us once again with sightings of the falcon protecting his nest, the Blue Heron wading for food, a very bold and obviously hungry seagull coming closer in the hopes of some scraps (not very picky eaters are they ?) and then we just couldn't help ourselves but to head out again for an evening sail along the Halifax waterfront, watching the hustle and bustle of the nightlife on shore. Nice. The US Coast Guard training vessel "Eagle" was in, what a spectacular ship!! A few of the crew had clambered to the very top of the highest mast... daredevil stunt or actual "work" related stint ? Hmm....
Sunday was a very impromptu type of day... honoured to have celebrated it with some very special people aboard, both for lunch and then for supper. Great times to be sure... and we knew then that we were coming to realize our banyan type of lifestyle, onboard Banyan, great people, enjoying great times with great food !!
Sadly, we knew that the weekend shenanigans had to come to an end as it was time to come back to a working manic type of week.
How many more days ?
