Saturday boat work

Alex, sunny and then raining
We woke up to a beautiful sunny calm morning, with a fog bank off in the distance that was just spectacular !!
We drank our morning coffee watching the feeding frenzy happening in the fog bank, just enjoying the calm and tranquillity. I am happy to report that my Bodum (coffee making) skills are improving by leaps and bounds.
We needed to get some much needed boat work done, so we brought Banyan alongside, and Dave set to dismantling the old propane system and installing the new one. I grabbed my bucket and scrub brush (wish I had had knee pads, damn !!) and started scrubbing the deck. OMG, I knew I heard cursing from Dave's end as he tried to get the old attachments off, but I was cursing just as loud over the grime and scum that was coming off the teak decks. I couldn't believe how dirty and scummy they were, funny about elbow grease though, seemed to wane about halfway through the job...
Many many hours later, after a smoked meat sandwich lunner, Dave was happy to report that all was in good working order, and I was proud to report that the decks had been scrubbed clean.
He helped me finish up, and we used the Teak Brightener and then washed Banyan in her entirety to get rid of any remaining soap... then we got cleaned up and were just thinking a wet one was in order, and wouldn't you know it, at that exact moment in time, the fog rolled in, the sun disappeared, and it started raining... WTF ?
And then our friends messaged us, that they would drop in for drinks. How wonderful, and oh, stay for supper, so they did !!
We had a great banyan type of meal... bruschetta to start, roasted vegetables on the BBQ with steak, and I even made a fruit torte, and given the limited foodstuffs onboard, that, my dear friends, was quite the accomplishment. The best part is that at some point during our meal, the fog lifted, the sun came out, so we went for a little put-put down the Halifax waterfront... surprisingly not alot of people out for a Saturday night ? As always, there is a worst part, and that is that we somehow forgot to turn off the BBQ and we think we may just have burnt it to non-use... Damn, we better get the name on the boat and fast, King Neptune is really getting miffed at us !!
Another wonderful day was had on Banyan, terrifique !!
