Marvelous Mornings
06 August 2011 | Mahone Bay
Alex, sunny and hot
What a marvellous morning... woke up in Mahone Bay to flat, and I mean flat, mirror-like water !! We arrived safe and sound after 8 hours of clear sailing yesterday, and decided to anchor (fee of charge) as opposed to a $40 fee for a mooring ball. Prices sure have gone up !!
We left Halifax Harbour yesterday at 9:40 and faced some pretty high seas (2 meters) but once we got out far enough and turned right (LOL), it was just a perfect sail (lots of wind at 15 knots) straight into Mahone Bay, arriving here at 5:30. 8 hours and Dave was grinning the whole way :)
Had a great lunch of Montreal style smoked meat sandwiches on sourdough bread (minus the pickle) en route, that unfortunately Dave bit into, and promptly lost part of his filling, damn. So one of our first errands once we arrived in Mahone Bay, was to dinghy in and see if there was a dentist around. Hmm, you know you're in a small place when the ONLY place open said their dentist comes in from Bedford, and we had missed him by half an hour. Le Sigh. Thankfully it's not bothering him at the moment...
Mojitos and bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar started our evening off, followed by a Sweet Italian sausage, sweet potato, carrot and pea goulash.
Our anchor mates, Sue and Gary from 1-2 Many, dropped in for a drinks and gabfest. Funny how you have to leave your own marina and meet up with people you know, but that you never see in your own area...
Heading into town for a walk then who knows ??
