We have a routine. One that happens every Sunday. Or almost every Sunday. Sometimes it's a Saturday. Or not. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. But mostly it does. Routines can be fun. Some people can't stand routine. I think we love our little routine.
So every Sunday after a very lazy type of wake-up, we head out in the rain, sun, shine, snow, sleet or hail... and head to Bedford for a fix at
The Chickenburger. Some people like The Chickenburger. Some don't. Don't matter. Do your own thing.
So today being a Sunday, we had a particularly lazy morning of it, and arrived at The Chickenburger only to find the parking lot empty, not THAT surprising given how late it was, but then were doubly aghast as we drove in closer and saw the quite large CLOSED sign in the window.
CLOSED !?!?!
Yes, indeed. Closed for painting, apparently. Perhaps they could've put a notice up last Sunday when we were there, advising their patrons with a bit of forewarning?
So we thought we would try the new Diner that we'd recently seen advertised and we scooted around down the street and around the corner and walked into the
True North Diner and well decided to give their burgers a try.
It is true that their 50's style decor was cute-ish, with bright black and white checkered floors and red and white everywhere else, typical Coca-Cola pictures on the white walls, the jukebox "out of commission"... the service warm and friendly though.
The burgers arrived and well, we dove in.... The fixin's included pickles, tomatoes, onions, lettuce... the buns were too large for the burger and the burger kind of tasteless. And why does one need to pay $0.99 to switch their fries to onion rings, or $1.99 to a salad ? Little things like that should really be free to switch up, IMHO. We only ordered water but the glasses were never refilled despite our having emptied them halfway through our meal.
We noticed a large table come in and sit nearby and asked the waitress about the "all day breakfast" as advertised on the window, but it was a no-go, as I guess breakfast is NOT served all day. They left without ordering.
Routines are meant to be changed on occasion n'est ce pas ? Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's not.
